Gloomy Gingrich Struggles to Snap Florida Slide

Alex Altman, Time
“Three nuclear weapons properly placed in Israel is a second Holocaust,” Newt Gingrich tells a room full of Jews. “If you’re going to go to Yad Vashem, if you’re going to say never again,” he adds gravely, peering out at a sea of elderly voters with Obama: Oy Vey buttons and paddles proclaiming their distrust for the liberal media, “then we had better act before it happens, not after.”

It's Now the GOP Establishment vs. the Tea Party

Sarah Palin, Facebook
We have witnessed something very disturbing this week. The Republican establishment which fought Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and which continues to fight the grassroots Tea Party movement today has adopted the tactics of the left in using the media and the politics of personal destruction to attack an opponent. We will look back on this week and realize that something changed. I have given numerous interviews wherein I espoused the benefits of thorough vetting during aggressive contested primary elections, but this week's tactics aren't what I meant.

Foreign Policy: Don't Ask If The U.S. Is In Decline

Obama's remarks at the State of the Union Address have led to vigourous discussion on America's role in the world. Stephen M. Walt of Foreign Policy argues that the danger of assurances that America is on top will encourage policymakers to continue to make blunders.

Magnetic Soap May Help Clean Up Spilled Oil

BP released millions of gallons of dispersants to break up oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster. But what if dispersants could be sucked up again after doing their job? Chemist Julian Eastoe talks about an iron-containing soap he's created that can be recaptured using a magnet.

A 33,000-year-old skull of a "wolf on the way to becoming a dog" was found in a Siberian cave. Evolutionary Biologist Susan Crockford, co-author of a study about the skull in PLoS ONE, discusses why the discovery challenges common beliefs about dog domestication.
